Freedom Statue is located just around the corner from the Lusaka National museum and is dedicated to freedom fighters and those who lost their lives in the struggle for Zambia’s independence. The statue depicts a man breaking his chains and symbolises the country’s freedom from colonial bondage. It was erected to celebrate Zambia’s independence in 1964 and is a popular place for celebrations on Africa Freedom Day (25 May).
