The Marrakech Medina and Souks are some of the liveliest markets I have ever visited worldwide. However, it is also one of the most annoying places to shop.
Filled with an array of restaurants and shops that sell good including locally produced dishes, fine china, household furniture, leather bags, shoes, dresses, incense, fruits, spices, etc, visitors are spoilt for choice of what to purchase.
As you stroll through the shops, you encounter overly eager traders who call out to you to visit their stalls. Unfortunately, some get quite aggressive and follow you around. Even worst, they may call you silly names which to them may seem flattering, but in reality are quite misogynistic. Unfortunately, tourists and foreigners are also charged exorbitant prices which are sometimes 3 times the value of the item.
Having said that visiting the Souk was still a good experience, and definitely wroth a visit if visiting Morocco.
