Visit Ghana: Labadi Beach, Accra

One of the things I love most about travelling is the opportunity it gives me to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If I could list three places that I am guaranteed to exhale without a care in the world, the beach would be top on my list. I love the feel of gentle breeze blowing above the restless waves as they crash onto the shore.  I love the taste of local delicacies sold by street vendors. Most importantly, I love running around in my swimsuit without a care in the world, knowing that for the newt few hours, my biggest worry would probably be trying not to get my hair wet.

On a recent trip to Ghana I visited Labadi Beach which is one of the most easily accessible beaches in Accra. The beach is close to quite a few hotels and features several beach restaurants, including the infamous Vienna City club and restaurant. Now if compared to the beaches in Cape Coast (which is about three hours out of Accra),  I would say Labadi Beach is just OK, however if you’ve had a long eventful week in Accra, Labadi beach is definitely a welcome escape. Also at Labadi Beach you could indulge in a bit of horse riding and quad bike riding, if you’re the adventurous sort. Please note however that you may be charged extra if the guides know you’re a foreigner and they might try to cunningly get an extra Ghana Cedi or five off you after persuading you to go a few extra laps on the bike or horse.
