Visit Ghana: Freedom & Justice, Ghana



Freedom and justice are the two words inscribed on the coat of arms of Ghana, designed by Ghanaian artist Amon Kotei in 1957. They are also strategically place in the front of the Independence Arch in Independence Square, Accra, as a reminder of the country’s struggle and commitment towards independence. The whole Square is quite overwhelming as it stands right next to the National stadium and includes the Independence Arch,the tomb of an unknown soldier, a line of Ghanaian flags and a parading ground. The whole setting reminds me of primary school at Teshie Roman Catholic School, Accra, when we would march to the beat of the Talking Drum after singing the Ghanaian National Anthem before class…
