On Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the Future Trends event at the Africa Centre in London. Future Trends is a look into a utopian future where fashion and architecture from East Africa combine to create new desires. The exhibition designed and curated by Pidgin Perfect, in collaboration with 2 Many Siblings and The Africa Centre, showcases work from emerging urban cultures using fashion, architecture and styling to express new identities and future perspectives of the city. Playing with gender, sexuality and new forms of social exchange, a future image of society is presented. The exhibition featured work by creatives such as Velma Rossa, 2 Many Siblings, Pidgin Perfect, Bevan Agyeman, Xawaash King, Odette Steele, Oliver Asike, The Nest Collective, and other artists. The even was great opportunity for creatives to socialise while shopping amazing vintage and contemporary finds.
