Fashion Industry Insiders : Fashion as an art form

Fashion Industry Insiders is a fashion and lifestyle accelerator platform that aims to empower, educate and equip the next generation of fashion influencers in creative and innovative ways. Our objective is to grow sustainable, value driven businesses and personalities that will tell a story of success and transformational change within the fashion industry and beyond.

Fashion Industry Insiders held its 2nd annual networking and fashion show on the 20th of September 2018 with the theme ‘Fashion as An Art Form’. The event was held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, Kensington, and attracted over 160 fashion and art professionals and enthusiasts alike.

This year’s theme ‘Fashion as An Art Form’ looks at the connection between fashion and art and how the high competition between brands to capture social media attention and increase sales, has led to the use of art as the go to source of inspiration and content.

The event offered great opportunity to socialise, network and learn from industry influencers, bloggers, designers, stylist, artists and other Industry Insiders.

Among our special guests for the night was Nicky Goulder, founder and Chief executive of Create. Nicky gave an impassioned speech about the work Create are doing through art to transform lives.

On the panel, were Maurice Mullen - head of Fashion & luxury goods, Mathias Le Favre – Menswear creative consultant and Caroline Chinakwe – Artist, designer and creative director.

Guests were dazzled by three fashion designers who showed their collection. The designers include Saran Kohli, Rita De Dyvrande and Caroline Chinakwe. Saran’s collection is an eclectic mix of sunset tones, palm trees. Tailored resort wear with influence of streetwear and formalwear. Mix of Cottons, Denim and wool blends which was aptly named Palm. Rita’s pieces would best be described as Avant garde and architectural. With buildings and physical structures being an inspiration from the designers love for original shapes. The pieces also represent a continuous provocation between practicality and sophistication.

Ciinderella B, the young Belgian singer-songwriter and music composer brought the event to an official end with her beautiful voice audience described as breathtaking.

There was an exhibition of afro pop art by Caroline Chinakwe which focusses on portraiture.
